Every year on March 8th women all over the world celebrate International Women´s Day paying homage to social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women.
In support of Women´s Day and in honor of women worldwide fighting for women’s rights and gender equality we present five inspirational females from the music industry who we have had the pleasure to work with over the years:
Marina & The Diamonds.
Marina & The Diamonds not only has one of the most beautiful faces in the music industry, the half-Welsh half-Greek singer also has a clear point when it comes to the distribution of roles between women and men: “Women and men, we are the same. But love will always be the game”.
Lulu James who descended from a Maasai tribe and came to London when she was six, combines two worlds in her heart. Her song “Sweetest Thing” is still the best declaration of love ever heard: “I love what you've done for me, I think it's probably the sweetest thing anyone's ever done”.
Stina Tweeddale, guitarist and frontwoman from the Glasgow-based band Honeyblood, is not only the coolest rock ´n roll girl we know. She´s also our personal tour guide and local soulmate for insider tips in her neighbourhood in Glasgow’s West End area of Finnieston.
When life stresses you, sometimes all you need to do is care less – and there´s no better song to remind you of that than Leslie´s casualness anthem “I Couldn´t Care Less”.
Last but not least: Jess Glynne.
It´s an open secret that we adore record-breaking singer / songwriter Jess Glynne, our brand ambassador and face of the Spring/Summer 2016 campaign. No one else sings about love and heartbreak as she does cause “when I´m with you there´s no place I´d rather be”. No wonder that we´re super excited for the JGxBench Capsule Collection that will be available in exclusive retail stores and on bench.co.uk from March 21st.
The Bench Music ‘Power Women’ playlist is inspired by all the women who influence and shape our lives. Happy listening!
